Wow Been A While
Hard to believe it has been a month since I posted. I got very busy with helping to start up a new member–owned, nonprofit bridge club, The King of Prussia Bridge Club.
As for my previous post’s Title Anagram, Can’t Fool Gravely Baked, it decrypts as To Valley Forge And Back, which was the route I took on my last big bicycle ride for the Great Cycle Challenge:
I began at Valley Forge then went up to Oaks at a trailhead on the Perkiomen River Trail, turned around and picked up the Schukill River Trail out to Port Providence, then back to Valley Forge and completed the outer loop on the Joseph Plumb Martin Trail. It was a total of 17.3 miles in just over two hours. There was a LOT of vertical climb, which I had to accomplish in the Great Great Granny low gear on my bike.
I finished the Challenge with 271 total miles on the bike and $177 in donations, thanks very much to those generous donors. I’m not done riding that bike, far from it, but Fall has Fell here in Southeastern Pennsylvania, and I do not expect to get out much more before wrapping it up. The bike, that is, under a tarp.
The school semester is winding down, just five weeks to go before I close out my classroom career at Camden County College in Blackwood NJ. I will teach two more courses in the Spring, but those will be 100% online. I begin my travels to U.S. National Parks and will be able to teach those courses from wherever I roam. Then that’s it for me, I will retire completely and take up the next chapters of my life. I am very fortunate to be well off enough financially and medically to live comfortably on Social Security and my retirement savings.
OK that’s all for now, and I will try to post more regularly henceforth.
All the best,
On Monday, 10/08 at 11:35 AM from Camden County College
I’m giving an Exam right now!
